If you’ve been reading my blogs or have been around me long enough, then you know that I believe we are at our best when we intentionally impact people around us by adding value to them.

As leaders, Every day, and in everything we do, we are making an impact. It’s either a positive impact, or it’s a negative impact. But we are impacting one way, whether we realize it or not!

When you build people up all around you, adding value to their lives is how you multiply value to others. It creates a ripple effect that compounds over time! We’re often tempted to believe that our lasting impact will be the output of our work we do every day — the things we do that are measurable or easy to remember. But our genuine lasting impact will be the outcomes we leave behind. The people who were transformed by what we did by adding value to them and building them up!

Let me ask you this. What will your lasting impact be in this earthly life? Will it simply be a list of achievements, or will it be a legacy of people who were changed by what you achieved?

Being a leader of lasting impact begins by shifting our focus from self to serving and building others; by becoming a leader who turns success into significance. There’s a pretty darn good chance that you have people within your influence today who would benefit from the value you could add to them. So go, help build them up! Be generous with your talents and wisdom. Be willing to help someone, even if they can’t return the favor.

Most of all, be intentional about doing something for someone today to add value to them in a way that will outlive both the action itself and your own lifetime! That, is the difference between being successful and being significant!

Let those that have gotten to serve alongside you, no matter for how long of timeframe, say that because of you and your leadership, they are a better person. I know that is the impact I want to make!

“Leadership is not about executive position or title.
