Who Am I Cheating?

“Unconsciously, we always find a way to get back to where our thermostat is set based on what we think we’re worth.”
— Ed Mylett

More takeaways from my notes from the Harvest of Knowledge conference!

Every leader says they want more success!

More growth.

More impact.

But the truth is… success doesn’t start with motivation. It starts with your calendar.

Where you spend your time today is the GPS coordinate for where your life will end up tomorrow.

You can talk about vision all you want, but your future is built one calendar block at a time.

What’s in Your Calendar Is What You Value!

It’s easy to say faith, family, health, or leadership are important. But if I open your calendar, do I actually see them there?

We say we want to grow as leaders – yet we fill our days with reaction instead of intention.

We claim to prioritize development – yet we don’t block time to think, read, or plan.

We say people matter most – yet we let fires steal time from the very people who matter.

The calendar doesn’t lie. It exposes priorities we talk about… but never live out.

The Silent Cheating We Don’t Talk About

Here’s the punch in the gut!

When we don’t follow our own plan, we’re not just cheating ourselves. We’re cheating the people who trust us to show up as our best selves.

When I skip what’s on my calendar – whether that’s my prayer & devotion time, workout, my meetings with the team, or my date nights – I’m stealing from the future version of me that’s counting on today’s discipline.

I’m cheating my team, because unclear leaders create uncertain followers.
I’m cheating my family, because an exhausted, unfocused version of me isn’t what they deserve. And I’m cheating my calling, because inconsistency delays every blessing that was already on its way.

Consistency Creates Trust. And Trust Creates Growth.

Tony Robbins says “Any time you sincerely want to make a change, the first thing you must do is to raise your standards.”

Consistency doesn’t come from hype. It comes from a plan. Clarity doesn’t come from intention. It comes from communication.

You can’t lead what isn’t planned.

You can’t expect consistency from your team if you don’t model it yourself.

You can’t expect clarity in others if your vision isn’t scheduled into their weeks.

Great leaders don’t drift into growth – they calendar it right into each and every day! Or, they are so consistent with growth and development, they don’t even have to calendar it anymore!

A Challenge for This Week

Take 10 minutes today and open your calendar.

If I didn’t know you and only saw your schedule, could I tell what you value?

If the answer is no – fix it!

Not next month. Not next quarter. Today!

The level of your leadership tomorrow depends on the level of your intentionality today.

Because what’s in your calendar is what you do. And what you do becomes who you are. I’ll stop there!
