Always be Growing. Always.

“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.“ – Benjamin Franklin

The most successful leaders are committed to lifelong learning, growth and development. And the ones who are successful in doing so all have something in common – They ALWAYS are looking for ways to get better! Knowledge and wisdom will not come seeking you out. You have to go after them. Our daily commitment to ourselves should be to learn something new each and every day.

As a leader, it can be easy to become complacent when you feel you have “made it”. After all, it’s often the goal of any leader to reach a point where they have achieved success and are viewed as successful and respected by their peers. But it’s important to remember that a leader’s job is never truly finished. No matter how successful you’ve become, you should always strive for growth and be open to learning new skills, strategies, and approaches to your leadership.

When a leader chooses to stop pursuing growth, they can become stagnant and be at risk of losing their competitive edge. Not only does this make them vulnerable to mistakes, but it can also lead to a lack of innovation and creativity. This can make it difficult for them to stay ahead of the curve and keep up with the ever-changing landscape of this quick moving world.

The further along you get in your leadership journey, the more difficult it is to remain driven to improve. This is especially true for those that came from a very humble beginning. (which is a common denominator in most great leaders of today)

Many leaders struggle with this, and in turn, lose momentum or never achieve their main goals and objectives. The moment you feel like you’ve made it, you’re officially falling into the doom loop!

The most common reasons leaders think they can stop growing is Pride and insecurity. Ironically, the two go hand in hand with each other. It is almost impossible to have success behind an insecure leader. And sadly, so many leaders refrain from growing because of their ego. It’s as if they are afraid to appear like they still have room to learn and grow!

I’m sure many of you have heard the expression ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!’  That phrase definitely was not coined by someone dedicated to personal growth!

No idea is perfect, no matter how good it is, and ideas can always be improved. Keep asking yourself and your Team if there is a better way to do things. This will energize, challenge, and inspire those around you who are hungry to learn as well! When you commit yourself to a Continuous Growth culture and mindset in your leadership, It will take your leadership to the next level. NEVER. STOP. GROWING. This world is depending on you. And now more than ever, we need more values based, integrity having, credible, high achieving, always pursuing growth and development, LEADERS!
